Karachi: Tribal Gaming Tournament

The “Tribal Gaming Tournament” has just ended in Rawalpindi with a bang. With that the event will shift to Karachi now so it’s time to start preparing. The tournament will commence on the 24th of this month with one game each weekend so that it’s no hassle for students.

The event is sponsored by “Dell” and is going to be a must-attend event. A complete schedule for the Karachi tournament and registration details can be found below.

Dell Presents ‘The Next Level of Gaming’ @ Tribal Karachi. Registration for the event is now open and will stay open for each individual game till the tournament for that particular game starts. IG3x Gaming Competition

Institute of Space Technology in collaboration with DICE 2010 presents IG3x, a gaming competition that will test your gaming capabilities.

Note that more than one team can come from one university but no clans. You can bring your own playing equipment like mouse and keyboards if you want. Those guys who use controllers should bring their own equipment.  Read the rest of this entry »

[Update] SF4 & Tekken 6 Details

It’s been more than a month for the Tribal tournament happening in Rawalpindi. The journey will finally come to an end this weekend with the final games (Street Fighter 4 & Tekken 6).

Why Lan Events Are Dying In Pakistan

A lot of people will contradict with me after reading the article header. Yes, we have come a long way in the past five years. There has been significant progress in the gaming community and local events. The mere standard of it all has been given a high boost. I remember the days when tournaments were held with Rs.500 per team and the winning team got Rs.1000 to take home. This was done in the vicinity of an underground cave of sorts with heavy cigarette smokes swimming away in the dim lighting. The leather on the chairs stank of sweat and your mouse pad probably had Pepsi stains on it while the keyboard had a number of keys that were not functional, it was called a gaming cafe.
If we glance at current trends then we stand witness that the bar has been raised. Minimal fee for average tournaments go from Rs.1000 to Rs.1500 while major events will charge Rs.2500 a team. The winnings get a nominal increase too as does the idea behind setting up a premises for a major event.

The road was rising and the community was prospering. However, this gradual rise has met with a brick wall now and won’t be able to survive much longer if things go on as they are. Read the rest of this entry »

Tribal-Dell Tournament

The existing G-Zone gaming cafe found in Cinepax (Rawalpindi) is now Tribal Gaming Zone. Tribal, which has it’s roots set firmly in Karachi had already offered it’s powerful rigs to Cinepax. The time had come for both of them to merge for a better future. Read the rest of this entry »
